I am just sitting randomly here at 5 am and writing my random thoughts. Its totally a rough draft. I will edit it later like i always promise but seldom i do lol, but you need to read this.
Don't get into bodybuilding for money. Its a sport to be played to be enjoyed. Nobody makes a living from it. Fitness modelling and sponsorships are fake bling and show business, they are selling you fake dreams. They just get some free supplements and photoshoots to advertise supplements.
Spoiled rich brats who have nothing to do, so they get into fitness and give themselves a satisfaction of doing something feel they are some celebrities when they are fitness models.
We have a huge wave of them in india too. 90% of them can't describe what the supplement does if their life depended on it. I can post pictures of a few ON India athletes who look no better than an average gym rat. They are athletes because they are trainers and they can push supplements to their clients.
Its all about being a salesman not an athlete.
Its marketing not your talent as an athlete.
Get a sponsorship if you get the chance. Free stuff is never a bad thing but do not go chasing it. It is not something you should depend upon.
Don't think some company will spread a red carpet for you and fund your bodybuilding because you are too dedicated towards the sport.
Sports don't contribute anything towards the society. You do it for pleasure. Nobody is going to pay you to play unless there is lot of money involved at an international level.
This is traded for exhange of their voice. Hey look i just woke up drinking my ON BCAA, hey look i am drinking casein before bed. You should buy it too because that's how my sponsor makes money and pays me a portion of it.
And if you believe it that's like watching McDonald's ad and believing they are not adding trans fat to their food even when you know they do it.
Fitness models are cogs in machinery of supplement business. They are just spare parts. Easily replacable. You go out to find one you will find hundreds. No talent is required which is rare.
And this is why they come and go. Most are forgotten within few years when they stop using drugs because of any reason with health implications being one of them. They are thrown out and somebody else takes their place.
Pretty much like modelling. A designer told them that models are just hangers for display of their dresses. Dresses make the models, not models making dresses. Its the same over here.
I am not a sponsored athlete. Now with a physique I can say that with pride. Otherwise if i said it a few months ago you'd think I am a trash talker. I do not need a sponsorship if it comes at cost of ethics.
I am not going to sell my ethics for free whey. I am not going to potray myself as a dumb idiot who eats casein powder before bed whereas I know I would rather eat fresh paneer for casein and save a lot of my money.
I am haven't been forgotten in last 5 years. I won't be forgotten for a few decades to come. So shouldn't be you.
I don't need a sponsor. I fund my bodybuilding being a dietitian and an entrepreneur.
I do a desk job like you and use my money for bodybuilding. You can do the same.
Get educated especially if you are young. Don't let the time slip away. What you might be chasing is just a mirage: a sight of water in desert which will vanish when you reach there.
More on career later. Shoot me an email if you need more elaborate views on it and I will add it to the article.
